One year after releasing the K4 sedan, Kia is adding to the lineup. The automaker has revealed the 2026 K4 hatchback.

The reveal took place at the New York International Auto Show as Kia showed off a vehicle it said embraced an athletic spirit. The K4 hatchback builds on the foundation of the K4 sedan, yet it is 11 inches shorter.

The hatchback boasts 22.2 cu-ft. of space behind the rear passengers. This expands to 59.3 cu-ft. of space if the rear seats fold down flat. This provides room for golf clubs, pets, or anything else required for weekend adventures.

The K4 hatchback comes standard with a 2.0-liter engine that delivers 147 horsepower and 132 lb.-ft. of torque. Kia paired it with an intelligently variable transmission (IVT).

The GT-Line and GT-Line Turbo models boast a 1.6-liter, turbocharged engine with 190 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The GT-Line and GT-Line Turbo also feature a sportier suspension for improved handling, paddle shifters, and 18-inch alloy wheels. These models have a three-spoke steering wheel, a standard power sunroof, LED fog lights, and LED projection headlights.

The focus of the interior is a massive digital display that is nearly 30 inches. This includes a 12.3-inch instrument display, a 5-inch climate display, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display.

The K4 hatchback comes standard with a wireless phone charger, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Consumers have the option of adding heated seats, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, and a digital key using the owner’s compatible smart devices.

Kia Digital Key requires an active Kia Connect subscription.

“After the overwhelmingly positive response to last year’s hatchback teaser in New York, we knew we had struck a chord with car enthusiasts and consumers alike,” said Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America.

“Built on the success of the K4 sedan, this hatchback isn’t just about style — it’s about attitude. With available turbo power, a sport-tuned suspension, a more compact footprint, and exceptional versatility, the K4 Hatchback is designed for those who crave excitement at every turn.”

The Kia K4 Hatchback will arrive at dealerships in late 2025. Kia will provide pricing details and EPA-estimated ranges in the future.
