Ford kicks off a new era on Sept. 4 by tearing down the wall between its divisions. A key part of this process is changing Ford Performance into Ford Racing.

The new era of Ford Racing involves going back to the classic light blue oval, as well as a block font. No longer will the company use the dark blue and red that made up the Ford Performance logo.

Will Ford, the great-great-grandson of Henry Ford, announced the news in a letter. He said that the company is going back to its roots of innovating under pressure.

To highlight this point, he noted that Henry once built a car called “Sweepstakes” for a pivotal race. If Sweepstakes did not win, Ford Motor Company may not exist.

“This is not a marketing exercise,” Ford wrote. “This is a promise. It signals a new, more focused mission to tear down the wall between our race teams and the engineering of the vehicles you drive every day on and off road.

“Under one global Ford Racing banner, our engineers and designers will develop our performance road cars right alongside our race cars. The technology that survives the Baja 1000 will be in the DNA of the next F-150 Raptor. The aerodynamic lessons we learn at Daytona and Le Mans will be sculpted into the body of the next Mustang.”

This new era will feature a new production vehicle in 2026

As Ford wrote in the letter, this new identity for the company starts on Sept. 4. However, it will continue with some big updates in the near future.

Ford Racing will showcase its new approach in January, as it has the last few years. The company will hold its Season Launch event, which it will use to highlight its race teams and drivers.

At some point in January, Ford Racing will debut its first production vehicle built using this new business approach.

Ford Racing will also take on multiple prestigious events across the world of motorsports. This includes the Dakar Rally and the Rolex 24 at Daytona. This will set the stage for the NASCAR season, which begins in February with the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium and then the Daytona 500.
