A new Ferrari hypercar is ready to turn heads. Meet the F80, the road car the automaker calls its most powerful.
Ferrari revealed the F80 on Thursday and provided some key details about the hypercar. The headline is the V6-hybrid powertrain that produces a combined 1,184 horsepower.
888 horsepower comes from the six-cylinder engine while the other 296 comes from the trio of electric motors.
According to Ferrari, this powertrain architecture comes from the vehicles used in Formula 1 and the World Endurance Championship. Although Ferrari did extensive work while creating the F80 and bringing the architecture to a road car.
The new hypercar’s engine weighs the same as the one in the 296 GTB despite producing 237 more horsepower. Ferrari achieved this by revising the cylinder block, crankcase, timing cover, and other components to make them lighter. The automaker also used titanium screws.
Ferrari says the F80, which features a carbon fiber chassis, has a top speed of 217 mph and will go from zero to 60 mph in 2.15 seconds.
The F80 continues to draw inspiration from motorsports
Ferrari drew inspiration from motorsports while designing its newest hypercar, which it showed in a variety of ways. The dynamic torque curve, the recumbent driving position, and the front-end aerodynamics are all examples.
The hypercar also produces 2315 pounds of downforce at 155 mph. Ferrari achieves with a dynamic rear wing and extensive underbody work.
The interior of the hypercar continues this trend. Technically, the F80 seats two people. However, Ferrari calls the interior a “1+” after using the driver as the focal point of the enveloping cockpit.
The seat, the dashboard controls, the steering wheel, and the instrument panel form what Ferrari calls “a cocoon.”
Additionally, Ferrari’s designers used colors to further emphasize the driver. The person controlling the F80 sits in a red seat. The passenger is in a black seat that disappears into the background when unoccupied.
This passenger seat is further back than the driver’s seat, which is a purposeful choice. Ferrari designed the layout this way to make the cabin smaller.
The Ferrari F80 will start reaching customers in early 2026. Only 799 will be produced.
