Bugatti has produced its 500th and final Chiron supercar, one that celebrates the car’s history.
Known as the ‘L’Ultime,’ the 500th Chiron features numerous details that celebrate the car and the people who made it.
For example, the seats, wheel caps, and rear wing have “#500” on them, as does the center console. Bugatti’s team even emblazoned #500 on the engine cover housing the Bugatti W16 powertrain. Additionally, the L’Ultime text covers multiple sections of the cabin.
The bodywork of the final Chiron features handwritten places and events. Examples include the launch in Geneva, appearances at Chantilly, testing phases at the Paul Ricard circuit, and the 300-mph run at the Ehra-Lessien testing track.
The paint featuring Atlantic and French Racing blue also pays homage to the original Chiron show car that Bugatti unveiled in Geneva in 2016. The Super Sport has differently-colored wheels to match the fading paint on the body.
The L’Ultime delivers around 1,500 horsepower and a top speed of more than 300 mph.
Bugatti will launch a new model with a hybrid powertrain
The 500th Chiron closes out a successful era for Bugatti, one in which the automaker surpassed 300 mph.
A new era will begin this summer as Bugatti unveils its new model with a wildly different source of power. Bugatti will move to a V16 hybrid powertrain, one that should deliver 1,800 total horsepower and will rev up to 9,000 rpm.
Bugatti has not provided a full look at the new hybrid V16. However, the automaker has teased the reveal with some audio of the engine.
Bugatti will show off its new model in June while starting its new era. For now, however, the company will celebrate the end of the Chiron’s successful run.
“With this bespoke work of art, we have retraced the Chiron’s majestic eight-year journey with unforgettable moments that have taken place throughout the world, creating legions of fans for the Chiron, not to mention its countless industry-first breakthroughs and unique world-first achievements,” said Bugatti President Christophe Piochon.
“This 500th and final Chiron model is a fitting farewell that captures a defining legacy that will forever be etched in automotive history and paves the way to a bright new chapter, starting with the production of the Bolide and the W16 Mistral and continuing with the unveiling of our new model in June.”
