Honda has introduced its lineup of Civics for the 2025 model year, headlined by a Civic Hybrid boasting more torque than the Si.
Billed as the Hybrid Civic Sport and the Hybrid Civic Sport Touring, the two new additions to the Honda lineup have a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle I-4 with two electric motors. Honda anticipates these engines will produce 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque.
The 2024 Civic Si, which features Honda’s 1.5-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivers 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque.
The 2025 model year marks the first time since 2015 Honda has sold the Civic Hybrid.
One note for the Civic Hybrid models is that they don’t have a manual transmission or a traditional automatic. Instead, they utilize the two electric motors.
The smaller electric motor serves as a starter and generator. The larger electric motor handles the acceleration at city speeds. The 2.0-liter gas engine then shifts into single-speed drive at higher speeds.
According to Honda, this two-motor system maximizes efficiency without compromising performance. The company anticipates the Hybrid models will deliver nearly 50 mpg.
Multiple driving modes are available in the Civic lineup
Honda emphasized the driver experience with the full Civic lineup, one that also includes the LX, Sport Sedan, and Sport Hatchback. There are three driver modes — Econ, Normal, and Sport (Sport and Hybrid models only).
Each driving mode features pre-determined settings for powertrain response, steering assist level, and gauge cluster layout.
There is also an Individual mode so each driver can customize their experience.
The Civic lineup now includes four levels of regenerative braking strength. These levels are available through the paddle shifters and they deliver a wide range of control while decelerating.
Honda updated the Civic’s look, especially the Civic Hybrid
The return of the Civic Hybrid is not the only significant change for the 2025 model year. The automaker also updated the look of the long-running car.
The new Civic boasts a more aggressive front fascia and grille, as well as darker taillights. The Civic Hybrid models now have a distinct body-colored headlamp garnish and front lower spoiler.
All of the Sport models continue to feature dark trim and black 18-inch wheels.
Honda added a new lineup of color options for the 2025 model year. The entire lineup includes Solar Silver Metallic and Urban Gray Pearl.
The Civic sedan exclusively features Blue Lagoon Pearl. The Civic hatchback exclusively features Sand Dune Pearl.
