The Formula 1 movie starring Brad Pitt now has an official title and a release window for markets around the world.
Apple Original Films, the company that purchased the movie’s rights, announced on July 5 that the film will be called “F1.” It will hit theaters in the summer of 2025. According to BBC News, the international release date will be June 25, 2025. “F1” will arrive in North America on June 27, 2025.
Apple Original Films also provided a look at the teaser poster for “F1.” Pitt appears to sit in the open cockpit of an F1 race car, helmet on and ready for a race.
Viewers of Sunday’s Formula 1 British Grand Prix (3 p.m. BST, 10 a.m. ET) will have an opportunity to get their first glimpse of the film. They will see a sneak peek as Apple Original Films builds some hype.
Pitt has spent extensive time filming ‘F1’
Airing the sneak peek of “F1” during the British Grand Prix is a fitting choice considering that Pitt will be on hand at the track. He will continue filming at the Silverstone Circuit, a track where he has already spent extensive time.
According to The Telegraph, Silverstone Circuit is only one of the tracks where Pitt and the “F1” crew have filmed. The list also includes Spa Francorchamps (Belgium), Suzuka (Japan), Yas Marina (Abu Dhabi), and Hungaroring (Budapest).
Filming will continue throughout 2024 as the production crew continues to capture scenes.
Pitt plays a veteran F1 competitor, Sonny Hayes, who returns to the racing series after time away. He becomes the teammate of a rookie driver on a fictional team called APXGP. Damson Idris plays Pitt’s teammate, Joshua Pearce.
The “F1” cast also includes Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Kerry Condon, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.
Seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton is the co-producer on the project. Joseph Kosinski of “Top Gun: Maverick” fame, is the director of the project.
