Standup comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is a noted fan of Volkswagen microbuses, but they are not the only vehicles in his collection. He also has a pristine Chevrolet Impala SS that only just passed 1,000 miles on the odometer.
Iglesias showed off his 1996 Impala SS during an appearance on “Jay Leno’s Garage.” He explained how being a “90’s kid” played a role in some of his recent car purchases, and he provided insight into how the car has such low miles.
“To my understanding, it was one owner,” Iglesias explained. However, he added that other owners may not have taken steps to register the car. The reasoning is that they didn’t want to drive the car. They just wanted to keep it as a collector’s item.
The 1996 Impala was available in multiple colors, including teal. This particular classic featured a black exterior with a light gray interior. Iglesias kept the car authentic, down to the CD player.
Iglesias, one of the most-successful comedians in the world, confirmed that he will mostly keep the Impala SS stock. The only modification in his plans is some window tint.
The 1996 Impala SS came standard with a 5.7-liter LT1 V-8 engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. This engine delivered 260 horsepower and 330 lb.-ft. of torque.
As comedians, Iglesias and Leno had some fun pointing out the features of this pristine Impala SS. They joked about the “tire condom” protecting the spare tire in the truck. They also tried to determine how many bodies would fit in the trunk based on their respective ethnic backgrounds.
A love of cars created a unique experience for Iglesias

The 1996 Impala SS is not the only new addition to Iglesias’ collection. He also added another VW bus, albeit one markedly different than the dozens he already owns.
According to Bill Jacobs Volkswagen, Iglesias recently became the first person in the United States to own the ID. Buzz.
VW began delivering the all-electric microbus in November, starting with a trip to Fluffy’s hangar full of classic microbuses. The comedian then took delivery of his brand-new electric bus.
Iglesias did not simply take the keys and put the ID. Buzz in his hangar. No, he held a fan event in Pasadena, California. People could see the electric van up close and then they could get autographs.
