Why ‘Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam Gave Up Riding Motorcycles

Charlie Hunnam once ruled the road as Jax Teller in Sons of Anarchy, but nowadays his motorcycle mostly collects dust in his garage. The actor admitted that he somewhat lost his confidence in riding after the series concluded in 2014. However, during the series, he rode with reckless abandon.

“I rode like I was a Hells Angels,” Hunnam told Entertainment Tonight in 2022, via “I took a lot of risks and got away with a lot. As soon as we finished the show, it was like the spell was broken. “

“All of a sudden, I started to worry about being on a bike. You need to ride with confidence, you know? You think about what could go wrong, there is [the] likelihood that something might go wrong. I haven’t been on a bike in maybe three years.”

The Rebel Moon star’s rationale is sound. Riding a motorcycle can pose risks, despite Charlie Humman’s extensive experience from his time on Sons of Anarchy. If it’s no longer a confident pursuit for him, taking a substantial break is probably necessary. Nevertheless, this doesn’t imply that the celebrity has parted ways with his motorcycle.

Charlie Hunnam Admitted That He Still Feels the Urge to Ride Motorcycles

In October 2022, during a different interview with ET, Charlie Hunnam discussed the possibility of a revival of Sons of Anarchy. He provided vague details about the project and didn’t explain how they would revive his character Jax. Yet, he mentioned keeping one of the motorcycles from the show, despite no longer riding much.

“I have one of the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ bikes,” Hunnam revealed. “I rode so hard for so long over that 10, 12-year period that I was riding all the time.”

The actor admits his bike riding days almost led to disaster. “I had a couple of close calls,” he admitted. “I just got a niggling voice in the back of my head saying, ‘Just take it easy for a minute,’ ya know? So, I put about five years where I’ve been riding so much but I’m starting to feel the urge to get back on the bike.”

While Hunnam does admit he’s had a long-standing aversion to motorcycles, it seems the allure of riding hasn’t entirely escaped the actor. However, the actor’s fans are likely eagerly awaiting his return to the saddle, be it in a fresh series, a Sons of Anarchy comeback, or just living that two-wheeled life.
