The Scion FR-S has not been in production since the 2016 model year, but Toyota is celebrating the sports car with a limited-edition GR86. This is the Yuzu.
According to Toyota, the Yuzu Edition is a nod to the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0. This sports car was a special edition predecessor to the GR86 featuring several unique touches from TRD.
The name, Yuzu, references the yellow paint that was on the original FR-S Release Series 1.0 in 2014.
The GR86 Yuzu Edition builds on the Premium Edition of the sports car, featuring a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter FA-24 engine. This delivers 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft. of torque. Toyota tuned it so that peak torque arrives at 3,700 RPM.
The Yuzu Edition, limited to 860 units in North America, features a bright yellow exterior. The sports car sits on matte-black 18-inch wheels. The color scheme continues to the black interior with yellow accents.

These accents highlight the Ultrasuede-trimmed sport seats, steering wheel, parking brake handle, and door trim. On the exterior, customers can opt for cat–back exhaust with GR logoed silver-colored tips and a body kit.
The additional touches for the Yuzu Edition include Brembo brakes and SACHS Dampers. High-pressure nitrogen and oil fill these SACHS Dampers to help absorb vibrations at a variety of speeds. Toyota says this system supports firm, stable steering.
The special GR86 Yuzu Edition — and the other two GR86 grades — will arrive at dealerships this fall. Toyota will share pricing details for all three grades in the future.
The Yuzu Edition headlines the three-car lineup
The Yuzu Edition is the big-ticket item for fans of the GR86. It is not the only car in the lineup for the upcoming model year.
According to Toyota, the 2026 model year will include the GR86, GR86 Premium, and GR86 Yuzu Edition. The automaker built these three cars to be lightweight and fun to drive.
The base GR86 starts at 2,811 pounds with a manual transmission and 2,851 pounds with an automatic. This makes it one of the lightest sports cars in the Toyota lineup. This is possible due to the aluminum hood, front fenders, and roof panel.
All three grades feature the 2.4-liter FA-24 engine that provides a zero to 60 mph time of 6.1 seconds (manual transmission). These grades also include the Torsen limited-slip rear differential providing improved traction in the corners.
Drivers who purchase the manual transmission can turn off traction control and turn on Track mode with the push of a button. The GR86 grades also feature Normal, Sport, and Snow modes for increased control in a variety of conditions.
All three grades in the GR86 lineup include several standard safety features. This includes seven airbags, a Pre-Collision Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Departure, among other examples.
