It’s the end of an era at Ram as the vehicle manufacturer will kill off the 1500 Classic. This continuation of the previous-generation 1500, which launched in 2009, will end with the 2024 model year.
The Ram 1500 Classic came in two trim levels — Tradesman and Warlock. The Tradesman had a base price of $41,750 after destination fees. The Warlock had a base price of $43,635 after destination.
Both trucks were available with a Pentastar 3.6-liter V6. Ram made the Hemi 5.7-liter V8 available as an optional upgrade.
The Tradesman will now be the base model of the 2025 Ram 1500. This model will start at $40,275. Destination will add another $1,995 to the price. The Tradesman will come standard with the 3.6-liter V6.
Ram confirmed reports of the truck’s demise with a statement issued to multiple outlets.
“The Ram 1500 Classic has been a great entry point pickup for Ram and the Tradesman model has certainly represented the needs of our commercial truck customers,” a spokesperson said.
“With the introduction of the Tradesman trim on the new Ram 1500 for 2024 model year, we bid farewell to the previous generation and remind customers that the Hemi-powered Ram 1500 Classic will sell into 2025.”
The end of the Ram 1500 Classic is only one of the significant moves by the vehicle manufacturer. Ram will also bring two electric pickups to the market — the 2025 Ram Ramcharger and the Ram REV.
The Ram REV is an all-electric pickup that the company built from the ground up to be an electric vehicle. As former CEO Tim Kuniskis explained in 2023, Ram did not simply try to fit the batteries into ann existing pickup.
The Ramcharger is more of a hybrid. It has a 3.6-liter V6, but this engine is solely for charging the 130-kilowatt electric generator. A pair of electric motors provide the power to the wheels.
