Maybach is delivering a new open-top two-seater in 2025, a car that it says is the sportiest model in brand history.
The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series has the purpose of providing a pleasurable open-top driving experience. It does so with its 4.0-liter biturbo engine that provides 577 horsepower at 5,500-6,500 rpm and 590 lb-ft. or torque at 2,500-5,000 rpm.
The SL 680 pairs this engine with a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive. The car manufacturer says the two-seater can go from zero to 60 mph in four seconds.
“Our customers love something special,” said Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-Benz Group AG. “The Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series adds a sporty two-seater to our model family for the ultimate open-air pleasure.
“It combines a dynamic driving experience with everything that characterizes a Mercedes-Maybach: excellent craftsmanship, exquisite design details, and fine materials.”
The sportiest model includes Maybach touches
Of course, the name creates expectations for certain material choices and visual touches. This is something Maybach highlights with the Monogram Series.
The open-top car sits on exclusive 21-inch Maybach forged wheels in a 5-hole Monoblock or multi-spoke design. The front fascia features horizontal air intakes to emphasize the car’s width.
The Obsidian Black hood has the option to include the Maybach pattern in Graphite Gray. The builders do this through a multi-step process. They apply a base coat to the hood and then sand it by hand.
They then print the Maybach pattern on the hood and apply a matte clear coat. The builders sand this by hand once again before applying another matte clear coat.
This special Obsidian Black hood pairs with two different paint options — MANUFAKTUR Garnet Red Metallic or MANUFAKTUR Moonlight White Magno.
The hood pattern extends to the acoustic soft top featuring a subtle anthracite Maybach pattern.
The interior of the SL 680 Monogram Series features “sustainably tanned, MANUFAKTUR Crystal White Exclusive Nappa leather.” It extends to the door panels, center console, and space behind the seats.
The luxury car’s interior also features stainless steel pedals and stainless steel door sills.
