Lamborghini has unveiled the newest addition to the supercar lineup — the Temerario. This latest release is unique in that it drops the traditional V10 engine for a V8 hybrid.
The supercar made its debut at Monterey Car Week 2024, a luxurious celebration of all things automotive. Lamborghini uncovered the car in front of spectators and provided more details about the power delivered by the powertrain.
According to a press release, the heart of the powertrain is a twin-turbo V8 engine. Three electric motors help boost the total output to 920 CV (907.414 mechanical horsepower). The powertrain produces 590 pound-feet of torque.
Lamborghini claims that the Temerario can go from zero to 62 mph in a mere 2.7 seconds and can top 210 mph. That’s a blistering pace. Lamborghini says that the Temerario is the first and only production supercar with an engine able to reach 10,000 rpm.
The three electric motors each emit up to 148 total horsepower. According to Lamborghini, the front two motors can drive the Temerario in full electric mode. The third motor has the role of smoothing our gearshifts and eliminating the effects of turbo lag.
According to Car and Driver, the Lamborghini Temerario has multiple drive modes available. This includes Città, Strada, Sport, Corsa, and Corsa Plus. The supercar also includes settings for the three electric motors. Recharge, Hybrid, and Performance are the options, which the driver can choose based on the situation.
One other addition to enhance the driver experience is Drift mode, which has three degrees of adjustment. This way, owners of the supercar can still get it sideways if necessary.
Lamborghini continued to prioritize the driver experience
The power remains available for Lamborghini enthusiasts, albeit in a different form. The Temerario also has a unique design that fits seamlessly into the Lamborghini lineup.
The interior continues to prioritize the driver experience and comfort. For example, launch control is available with the press of a single button. It does not require navigating complicated menus.
The interior features an 18-way adjustable seat that includes both heating and ventilation. The cockpit includes a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster for the driver and a 9.1-inch screen for the passenger. A center-mounted 8.4-inch screen serves as the hub for entertainment and navigation.
The Temerario is not yet being offered for sale by Lamborghini. The automaker will announce pricing and release window information at a later date.
“The Temerario is a genuine ‘fuoriclasse’: a car in a league of its own, an extraordinary and innovative vehicle both from a technical and stylistic point of view,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, in a statement.
“Every new Lamborghini must surpass its forerunners in performance terms, while at the same time being more sustainable from an emissions standpoint.
“With the Temerario, we have completed a key chapter in the electrification strategy included in our Direzione Cor Tauri plan: we also become the first luxury automotive brand to offer a completely hybridized range.”
