Miami Art Week began with Jaguar unveiling a full look at its new design philosophy. The company unveiled the Type 00 concept car as it transitioned into an electric-only brand.

These two striking cars with their sharp lines and 23-inch wheels will not actually go into production. Jaguar clarified this with a post on X, the platform formerly known as social media.

However, Chief Creative Officer Gerry McGovern said that the bold cars were a “taste of things to come.”

According to the announcement, the new range of vehicles from Jaguar will use a “completely unique electric platform.” The first vehicle in this new range will be an electric four‑door GT. Jaguar will reveal it in late 2025.

The company said there would be no range anxiety and that the cars would have a range of 430 miles. Additionally, McGovern said that the new electric cars would be capable of 1,000 horsepower.

The unveiling took place Monday night in Miami. McGovern stood between two brightly-colored Jaguars — one pink and one silver blue. He explained that Jaguar celebrates fearless creativity, which is why the company chose to unveil its reimagining in Miami.

McGovern then addressed the comments directed at Jaguar over the past few weeks as the company has changed its logo and released teases.

“Controversy has always surrounded British creativity when it’s been at its best,” McGovern said. “David Bowie, Vivienne Westwood, and architect Richard Rogers were some of my creative heroes. They were British trailblazers who challenged convention and had no desire to copy the norm.

“In the same way, when Jaguar is at its best, it threw away the car design rule book and created E-Type and the XJS. These were objects of desire.”

As McGovern explained, he told his creative team to create these objects of desire once again. The result was the Type 00 concept.
