Ford has expanded the Explorer for the 2026 model year while focusing on off-road performance. The automaker has introduced the Explorer Tremor.
According to the announcement, this SUV boasts 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, auxiliary off-road lights, and electric spice-accented tow hooks. The Explorer Tremor also has improved approach and departure angles for navigating off-road obstacles.
The Tremor comes standard with all-wheel-drive with a Torsen limited-slip differential. Ford says this will ensure traction on slippery or sandy surfaces. Ford also added specially tuned springs and sway bars. The Explorer now has an extra inch of ride height.

Finally, Ford added underbody protection to ensure that the essential components will not sustain damage during off-road adventures.
The Explorer Tremor offers two powertrain options for the 2026 model year. One option is the twin-turbo 3.0-liter Ecoboost engine delivering 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft. of torque. The 2.3-liter engine delivering 300 horsepower is also an option for those wanting more fuel efficiency.
Ford added some comfort to the interior of the Explorer Tremor

Successfully taking on off-road adventures is the focus of the new Explorer, but Ford noted that it did not want to sacrifice comfort in the process.
The highlights of the interior are the optional massaging front seats and 14-speaker premium B&O audio system. The Explorer’s 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system make the move to the Tremor for the 2026 model year.
The off-road-focused SUV also comes standard with a 360-degree camera system and orange-accented interior. The Explorer also has Ford’s Blue Cruise hands-free drive mode as an available add-on.
