Muscle car enthusiasts have their first idea of the sound the new gas-powered Dodge Charger will produce. A Detroit resident has captured footage and audio of the Charger Sixpack during a commercial shoot.

The video, which the person posted on Reddit, shows a red Charger pull to the stop in the middle of a Detroit street. It then accelerates quickly before drifting around a corner and racing away. A drone follows while capturing footage, which Dodge will use for advertising its new release.

As the video showed, this was not the electric Charger with the artificial exhaust noise. This was a legitimate, gas-powered car with the Hurricane 3.0-liter inline-six engine. It did not produce the low grumble of a V8 engine, but it delivered an auditory experience that some consumers will enjoy.

Dodge has not provided any concrete release information about the upcoming Sixpack-powered Chargers. Parent company Stellantis has only said that these gas-powered cars will launch in the second half of 2025.

The time appears to be near based on Dodge publicly showing off its new Charger while capturing footage for a commercial.

The Dodge Charger Sixpack will feature two powertrain options

While Dodge hasn’t provided much information about Charger pricing or release dates, it has released other details. The automaker has confirmed that the gas-powered Charger will have two powertrain options.

Both versions will feature the Hurricane 3.0-liter inline-six engine. However, the standard-output (S.O.) version will deliver 420 horsepower. The high-output (H.O.) version will crank that number to 550 horsepower.

Both versions of the Dodge Charger Sixpack will have less power than the EV Charger Daytona, which puts out 670 horsepower. Although consumers who want the traditional “muscle car experience” will willingly put up with less power for the enhanced sensory experience.

It also remains possible that Dodge could bring back the Hemi V8 engine in the future. The automaker ditched this powertrain in its trucks and cars while moving toward an electric future, but it has since reversed course. Stellantis announced it will bring back the Hemi for its Ram pickups, and it will return to NASCAR in 2026.
