Jimmy Carr, one of the biggest names in standup comedy in the United Kingdom, has made a major change to a classic car. He has converted an Aston Martin DB6 to electric power.
To complete the work, Carr turned to Oxford-based company Electrogenic, which handles multiple conversions for A-list celebrities. The company took the 1967 DB6 and added a battery delivering 200bhp (150kW) of power.
According to Electrogenic, the modified DB6 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds. It has a top speed of over 90 mph. The company says the DB6 has a range of more than 150 miles in real-world conditions.

This modification did not require any extensive work. The Electrogenic only focuses on powertrain swaps that they can reverse if needed. They don’t cut, drill, or weld anything while working on the respective projects.
“We were delighted to be asked to convert Jimmy Carr’s cherished Aston Martin DB6 from petrol to state-of-the-art electric power,” said CEO Steve Drummond. “Electrogenic’s conversion gives it effortless and reliable performance to match its stunning looks, and we’re extremely proud of the results.
“As with all our work with classic vehicles, the conversion is in keeping with the original character of the car, delivering a familiar but now hassle-free driving experience. The Electrogenic Aston Martin DB6 has ample reserves of power to match its celebrated design – all with the convenience of total reliability and zero tailpipe emissions. It’s a delight to drive and a real head turner.”
The DB6 continues a string of conversions

Electrogenic has put in extensive effort creating “plug-and-play” kits that can convert traditional internal combustion engine vehicles to electric. Carr’s DB6 is only the latest example.
The company also took on a project for action star Jason Momoa. They converted his 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom II to electric power.
Electrogenic has also expanded its list of offerings for everyday consumers who want to modify their personal vehicles. This specifically includes kits for the Mazda MX-5, DeLorean DMC-12, Land Rover Defender HV, Jaguar E-Type, Porsche 911, Series Land Rover, classic Mini, and Land Rover Defender Agricultural models.
While Carr’s DB6 has the powertrain offering 200bhp (150kW) of power, Electrogenic offers another option. Consumers can upgrade to an electronic powertrain offering 210kW (280bhp). The company says this takes the vehicle’s 0 to 60 mph time from 6.5 seconds to 4.5 seconds. It boosts the top speed to 125 mph.
