Car theft is a distressingly common crime, but is there any data that indicates which models car thieves gravitate toward the most? Yes, and the numbers are staggering, particularly if you happen to drive a job site favorite, the Ford F-150. A grand total of 38,938 Fords were reported stolen in 2019 more than any other vehicle in America, and more than 5,000 than the second-place Honda Civic (33,220). To get more specific the most stolen year of the vehicles were 2006 F-150s and 2000 Honda Civics.

Why the Ford pickups though? We suspect the numbers are biased somewhat by production, as pickups and larger vehicles have been growing in popularity and are now very common. Apart from that, however, Honda (and the Civic model, in particular) are well known for their reliability and quality construction, which affords them (and their parts) a much higher resale value than many cars in the same class. So if you’re driving an F-150 or a Honda Civic, watch out!
