Guns N’ Roses Legend Slash Announces S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival Tour Dates

Fresh off his Ken-ergetic Oscars performance, guitar maestro Slash is hitting the road on a new tour this summer. On Tuesday, the Guns N’ Roses legend revealed the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival Tour, a lineup of North American concerts centered on blues music. The tour will feature guest musicians in support of his upcoming album Orgy of the Damned.

“The S.E.R.P.E.N.T. tour is a celebration of blues and rock ‘n’ roll music, and a celebration of unity and togetherness in these uncertain and divisive times,” Slash said via his website.

Slash elaborated that the acronym S.E.R.P.E.N.T. encapsulates “Solidarity, Engagement, Restore, Peace, Equality, N’ Tolerance,” aligning with the charitable purpose of the tour. A portion of the proceeds will support organizations such as The Equal Justice Initiative, Know Your Rights Camp, The Greenlining Institute, and War Child.

Starting July 5 in Bonner, Montana, the festival tour will visit cities like Los Angeles, Denver, Cincinnati, Toronto, New York City, Boston, Atlanta, and more, ending on Aug. 17 in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Accompanying Slash on the journey are blues musicians such as Warren Haynes Band, Keb’ ‘Mo, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Robert Randolph, Samantha Fish, Eric Gales, ZZ Ward, Jackie Venson, and Larkin Poe.

The tour’s launch follows the recent release of Orgy of the Damned on May 17, which is Slash’s second solo album in collaboration with various blues artists. Notable contributors to this project include Gary Clark Jr., Billy Gibbons, Chris Stapleton, Dorothy, Iggy Pop, Paul Rodgers, Demi Lovato, Chris Robinson, Tash Neal, and Beth Hart.

Slash’s Tour Announcement Comes Off the Heels of an Electric Oscars Performance

Of course, Slash’s tour announcement comes off the heels of his show-stopping performance alongside Ryan Gosling at the Academy Awards Sunday night.

Gosling, in a purple-lit setting, donned a sparkling pink suit and gloves and sang “I’m Just Ken” from the audience behind Margot Robbie, prompting her laughter. He later moved to the stage, accompanied by Mark Ronson on guitar and a few backup dancers. Topping it all off was Slash, contributing guitar to the song.

“I’m Just Ken” and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” were both nominated for Best Original Song for Barbie. However, Eilish ended up taking home the Oscar.

Slash is currently embarking on his “The River Is Rising Tour” across Latin America, Asia, and Europe, scheduled to continue until April 29th.
