Ferrari bolsters F1 team with personnel additions

Scuderia Ferrari HP continues adding personnel ahead of the 2025 season.

Scuderia Ferrari HP has announced two personnel additions ahead of Sunday’s Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.

Loic Serra and Jerome d’Ambrosio will both make the move to Ferrari from the Mercedes AMG F1 team. They will begin working with Ferrari on Oct. 1, ahead of the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas.

Serra, who has a degree in mechanical engineering, will become Head of Chassis Performance Engineering. He will oversee Track Engineering, Aero Development, Aero Operations, and Vehicle Performance.

A former driver, d’Ambrosio will take on the role of Deputy Team Principal for Scuderia Ferrari HP. He will also oversee Ferrari’s young driver program as the Head of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy.

Scuderia Ferrari HP signed a seven-time champion for the 2025 season

The addition of Serra and d’Ambrosio follows another significant move, one that took place in early 2024.

Scuderia Ferrari HP announced ahead of the 2024 F1 season that the team had signed seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton to a multi-year deal. Hamilton’s contract with the Mercedes AMG F1 team ran through the 2025 season, but Hamilton activated a release clause.

Hamilton will join Scuderia Ferrari HP in 2025 as he replaces Carlos Sainz on the team. Charles Leclerc will be Hamilton’s teammate.

Hamilton bears the distinction of being F1’s most successful driver. He is the all-time winningest competitor with 103 wins. Hamilton and Michael Schumacher are the only drivers to win seven championships.

Hamilton won six of his seven world titles after joining Mercedes AMG in 2013. He helped Mercedes win the constructors championship eight times in a row between 2014 and 2021.

“We knew our partnership would come to a natural end at some point, and that day has now come,” Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team CEO Toto Wolff said in February.

“We accept Lewis’s decision to seek a fresh challenge, and our opportunities for the future are exciting to contemplate.”
