The NTT IndyCar Series season will have a new home starting with the 2025 season.
Fox Sports and IndyCar have agreed to a “historic” media rights deal. Every single race in 2025 will air on Fox and will stream on the Fox Sports app. According to the press release, Fox Deportes will carry exclusive Spanish-language television coverage. Fox will announce this schedule at a later date.
Along with airing all of the IndyCar races, Fox will also have coverage of the Indy 500 qualifying sessions on the Saturday and Sunday leading up to the prestigious race. This will bring the total number of broadcast network windows to 19 while setting a new record for the series.
All practice and qualifying sessions from throughout the 2025 season will air on FS1 and FS2. The majority of races for Indy NXT — the developmental series for IndyCar — will air on FS1. FS2 will provide supplemental coverage.
“This represents unrivaled exposure and provides an unparalleled growth opportunity for the most competitive and entertaining motorsport on the planet,” said IndyCar CEO Mark Miles in a statement.
“Fox Sports is a fully committed partner, ready to bring engaging and technically innovative coverage to millions of fans across the country while also promoting IndyCar thoroughly across all its platforms.”
Fox Sports has not announced the lineup of broadcasters who will provide coverage throughout the IndyCar Series season. This announcement will take place at a later date.
The 2025 season will begin with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on Sunday, March 2. It. will end with the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix on Sunday, August 31. The 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge will take place on Sunday, May 25.
This IndyCar move provides Fox Sports with another iconic event
Now that Fox Sports has completed this deal, it will now have two prestigious races on its main network.
The Daytona 500, a crown jewel in NASCAR’s Cup Series, will air on Fox on Feb. 16, 2025. This race is the biggest on the Cup schedule, and it delivers the biggest ratings for Fox Sports.
The Indy 500 will now deliver major ratings of its own as it moves to Fox after several years on NBC. This will be a powerful combination for Fox Sports, and it will make up for the loss of another important race.
The Coca-Cola 600, another one of NASCAR’s crown jewel races, has been part of the Fox lineup for several seasons. This Memorial Day weekend race closes out an action-packed day also featuring F1’s Monaco Grand Prix and the Indy 500.
NASCAR’s new TV deal, which goes into effect in 2025, took the Coca-Cola 600 away from Fox Sports. The race will now kick off Amazon Prime Video’s portion of the NASCAR Cup Series schedule.
NBC Sports will broadcast 10 more IndyCar races
The Fox Sports deal will go into effect in 2025, but first, NBC Sports will close out its final season of the racing series.
There are 17 races on the 2024 IndyCar Series schedule. Teams have completed seven of them. Scott Dixon has celebrated two wins. Pato O’Ward, Josef Newgarden, Will Power, Alex Palou, and Scott McLaughlin all have one win each.
The teams will next head to Laguna Seca on June 23 to continue the season. They will also race at Mid-Ohio, Iowa, Toronto, Gateway, Portland, and Milwaukee. The season finale will be at Nashville.
“We are very proud of our contributions to the growth of IndyCar over the past 16 seasons, generating record viewership, unprecedented promotion, and best-in-class production,” NBC Sports said in a statement.
“We want to thank the drivers, teams, and owners for their partnership, and we look forward to presenting the rest of the 2024 season to IndyCar’s loyal and passionate fans.”
