Ford Performance has provided a look at the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck that will compete in the 102nd Pikes Peak Hill Climb.
Ford Performance dropped a teaser on Tuesday that showed the shadowy silhouette of the SuperTruck. There were no clear views of the electric truck, but the video appeared to show a large wing and underbody aero.
According to a press release, there will be a full unveil of the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck as the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb draws closer. For now, Ford Performance will only confirm that the entry will be No. 150 and that Romain Dumas will drive.
Dumas will make his qualifying run on the 12.5-mile uphill course in the F-150 Lightning on June 18-20 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will take place on June 23.
The 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb marks the second time that Ford Performance has used an electric test vehicle. Last year, Ford Performance set a class record with its 1,400-horsepower Electric SuperVan 4.2.
Dumas has worked with Ford Performance since 2022
Dumas has achieved a considerable amount of success during his racing career. He has driven for Porsche, Volkswagen, Audi, and Ford while competing in a variety of prestigious races.
Dumas has three class victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2010, 2013, 2016). He has won the 12 Hours of Sebring. He is a four-time overall winner of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and a two-time overall winner of the 24 Hours of Spa. Dumas is also a two-time American Le Mans Series Champion.
The veteran racer has also delivered outstanding performances at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. He has earned four King of the Mountain crowns and he set the class record with Ford Performance’s SuperVan.
Dumas will return to Ford Performance and attempt to stand atop the podium once again while driving the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck.
