Racers Caio Collet and Gabriele Minì will join the Nissan Formula E Team for an upcoming Rookie Test in Berlin, Germany.
The Rookie Test takes place Monday, May 13, following the conclusion of the Berlin E-Prix doubleheader at Tempelhof Airport circuit.
Each of the 11 Formula E World Championship teams must put forward two rookies for the sessions. These rookies must have either a full E-License or a Free Practice only E-License to participate. They must not be on the entry list for Season 10 (2023-2024) of the Formula E World Championship.
The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship takes place on street circuits and features all-electric race cars. The series provides an opportunity to test and develop electric technology.
Collett joined the Nissan Formula E Team at the start of Season 10. He is the simulation and reserve driver while also competing in the Indy NXT series for HMD Motorsports.
Collett, who won the French F4 title in 2018, has completed laps in the Formula E entry. He participated in the Free Practice 0 at the Misano E-Prix in early April.
“We’re looking forward to the Rookie Test with two very talented drivers in Caio and Gabriele,” said Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of Nissan Formula E Team, in a statement. “After participating in FP0 in Misano, it will be important for Caio to continue developing in the car, becoming more and more comfortable.”
“As our reserve and sim driver, it’s vital for him to have as much experience as possible to support the team at his best. This will be a good opportunity to gain confidence and make a step forward with plenty of track time available.”
Minì, who makes his first laps in Formula E machinery, is the 2020 Italian F4 champion. He is also a member of the Alpine Academy. Since joining the prestigious driver development program, Minì has secured two wins in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
“The test also presents us with a great chance to introduce Gabriele to the team,” added Volpe. “He’s a very promising driver, part of the Alpine Academy and it’s great to count on cross-Alliance synergies to bring young drivers these opportunities.
“It’s very positive for us to work with young, up-and-coming drivers like Gabriele and Caio, so we can not only play a role in their professional development but also build a rapport and set important basis for potential future collaborations.”
