A NASCAR Cup Series car from the early 1990s has landed on auction site Bring A Trailer. The Oldsmobile Cutlass has topped $15,000 as the end of the auction approached.
According to the Bring A Trailer listing, the Cutlass appeared in multiple superspeedway races. Rob Moroso drove the No. 20 Crown Petroleum entry during his rookie season, and he used it to finish a career-best ninth at Daytona in the summer.
Moroso passed away in a September 1990 car crash. The paperwork on the auction site noted that Buddy Baker then controlled the entry at Daytona and Talladega during the 1991 season. He posted a pair of 13th-place finishes.

Mike Wallace used the No. 20 Cutlass as he attempted to qualify for the Daytona 500. He did not accomplish this as he was one of 16 drivers who did not make the race.
One interesting note from the seller is that while this is a superspeedway car, the previous owners had it set up for road courses.
The auction started with a $9,020 bid from a car collector. The price has steadily risen. It quickly jumped to $12,000 before going to 12,920, $13,500, $14,020, and $14,358. The most recent bid is $15,020.

The Cutlass features a newer V8 engine
The Cutlass competed in the NASCAR Cup Series in the early 1990s, but the vehicle does not have the engine from this era. According to the listing, one of the owners installed a carbureted 358ci V8 in 2011. This engine paired with a Jerico four-speed transmission.
Other recent work includes an oil and filter change, as well as a compression test. The seller drained the old gas and filled the car with new. The seller noted that the Cutlass revs “without hesitation” and idles without any adjustments.

The Cutlass features many period-accurate details. This includes a fixed racing seat, a full roll cage with door bars, a fire-suppression system, a window net, a quick-release steering wheel, hood pins, NACA ducts, a rear spoiler, and 15-inch Aero wheels. The car also has a set of Goodyear Eagle racing slicks.
