Kid Rock has used a concert to put a unique part of his car collection on full display.
The rapper/rocker took over AT&T Stadium on Friday, May 17, for Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo and made an entrance as only he could. He stood in the bed of his Tesla Cybertruck, which featured orange paint and “01” on the side to resemble the General Lee from “The Dukes of Hazzard.”
John Schneider, who played Bo Duke in the long-running TV series, drove the Cybertruck while Kid Rock performed the song “Cowboy.”
Once the custom electric truck made a lap around the home of the Dallas Cowboys, Kid Rock headed onto the stage to close out his opening song. However, there were more surprises in store as multi-time CMT Music Award winner Jelly Roll took the stage for a performance of his own.
Kid Rock wasn’t done just yet. Once he completed his opening set, the rodeo competitors put on a show of their own for the more than 23,000 fans in attendance.
Kid Rock then returned to the stage for an encore performance after team Free Riders won the $500,000 prize.
The Rodeo featured multiple teams and events
Part Professional Bull Riding event/part concert, the Rock N Rodeo was several months in the making. Back in October 2023, PBR and Kid Rock announced they would team up for a team-formatted rodeo “infused with contemporary music.”
The goal would be to increase the sport’s entertainment value and bring it to a larger audience. The Kid Rock’s Rock N Roll Rodeo would also set up the PBR World Finals Championship.
The reimagined rodeo featured six teams competing in a bracket-style competition. The teams would go head-to-head in barrel racing, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling, and breakaway roping.
Two teams would advance to the third and final round, where they would compete for the championship and the $500,000 prize.
Five of the six teams selected the rodeo stars who would join them for the inaugural event during a draft. The sixth team — the WCRA Free Riders — featured a roster built on champions from Rodeo Corpus Christi.
“Helping to create an all-American, patriotic, competitive Western sporting event with live music is exciting to me,” Kid Rock said in a 2023 statement. “I love cowboy s—, and we are going to do a mash up of rodeo and rock and roll like never seen before.
“Whether it works or not, we shall see. But I would rather try to move the needle forward in entertainment than just sit back and enjoy the ride. At Kid Rock’s Rock N’ Roll Rodeo, fans can expect a sports and entertainment experience like no other.”
