A twist on a classic Plymouth Barracuda has landed on the popular automotive auction site, Bring a Trailer. This version features an engine with 707 horsepower.
According to the listing, this 1970 Barracuda underwent a multi-year build before becoming available via auction. The biggest change to the classic muscle car was the addition of a 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 featuring 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque.
The engine, which once was the most powerful in the Chrysler stable, pairs with a Tremec six-speed manual transmission. The interior of the car features a pistol-grip shift lever.
The Barracuda customizations are evident from all angles, starting with the custom paint. The muscle car, which sits on Boze 18-inch multi-spoke wheels, has Chrysler’s Plum Crazy paint. According to the listing, the car took on this shade during the refurbishment.
Other exterior details include the Hemi fender graphics, a rear decklid, and Dapper Lighting headlights. The Barracuda also has a Reilly Motorsports AlterKtion coilover suspension kit.
The Barracuda interior includes modern Challenger touches
The exterior of the Barracuda is a nod to muscle car history. The interior combines history with some modern touches.
The all-black interior features TMI Products front bucket seats with microsuede inserts. It has a vintage climate control system and AutoMeter American Muscle instrumentation.
The center console is far more modern, considering that it comes from a 2015 Dodge Challenger. Cupholders are behind the pistol-grip shifter, while a Pioneer touchscreen head unit is mounted below the dashboard.
The auction for the Hellcat-powered Barracuda sits at $75,000 as of Monday morning. It ends on Thursday, Dec. 26, at 1:05 p.m. ET.
