This week marks the return of one of the biggest motorsports celebrations — the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Dozens of competitors will take on the prestigious hill climb in — or on — vehicles from motorsports history on July 10-13. Others will head to the Off-Road Arena or the Forest Rally Stage. These are 10 of our favorites on the entry list.

No. 10 – SuperVan 4.2

A custom creation from Ford Performance, the SuperVan 4.2 turned heads at last year’s Festival of Speed. The hill climb monster won the Timed Shootout as Romain Dumas covered 1.16 miles in 43.98 seconds. Now, the SuperVan 4.2 will return to defend its crown.

No. 9 – Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R

Batch 1 of the Goodwood entry list features some incredible race cars, both modern and classic. One example will be the Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R controlled by Ricky Taylor. This is the Hypercar that the team uses to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

No. 8 – No. 87 Trackhouse Racing Red Bull Chevrolet

NASCAR has expanded its presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in recent years, and this will continue this week. Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks, as well as guest drivers, will control the No. 87 Red Bull Chevrolet while taking part in the hill climb. This stock car has featured development driver Connor Zilisch in limited Cup Series races this season, but it will now take part in a motorsports celebration.

No. 7 – Toyota Celica GT-4 ST185

The hill climb is the main draw of the festival, but it is far from the only attraction. For example, rally history will be on display as numerous cars take on the Forest Rally Stage Presented by Subaru. One of the biggest draws will be the 1994 Toyota Celica GT-4 ST185 that became a dominant force in the early 1990s.

No. 6 – 1995 McLaren F1 GTR

One of many vehicles in the “Winning Formula” class, the McLaren F1 GTR captured the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans. This road-based supercar featured drivers JJ Lehto, Yannick Dalmas, and Masanori Sekiya. This trio delivered a stunning overall win in the McLaren F1 GTR’s debut, and they did so in one of the wettest Le Mans in history.

No. 5 – The 2021 Nissan Altimaniac

Three-time Formula Drift World Champion Chris Forsberg has entertained motorsports enthusiasts over the years by smoking tires and sliding various cars around. He will continue this trend at the Festival of Speed with a purpose-built car. Forsberg will showcase the 2021 Nissan Altimaniac, which features a custom 2,000-horsepower engine.

No. 4 – Toyota Stout Drift Truck

Ryan Tuerk will return to Goodwood to join the “Catch My Drift” class. He will drive his Toyota Stout drift truck, which features a turbocharged four-cylinder engine from a Toyota Celica GT4. The engine is smaller than expected considering the era of the truck, but it delivers enough power for ridiculous burnouts.

No. 3 – Defender Dakar D7X-R

Defender has plans to compete in the grueling Dakar Rally and the World Rally‑Raid Championship. It will do so with the brand-new Defender Dakar D7X-R. This off-road machine is built for durability during difficult endurance races, but it will first head to Goodwood for the Festival of Speed. Defender will showcase its new vehicle in the Off-Road Arena.

No. 2 – Subaru WRX Project Midnight

Another competitor at last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Subaru WRX Project Midnight delivered a blistering lap at 46.07 seconds. Subaru created this monster for one purpose only — to break records. The all-black WRX features a 670-horsepower BOXER engine that delivers 680 lb-ft. of torque, and it shoots flames from the hood-exit exhaust.

No. 1 – Maserati 8CM

The Goodwood Festival of Speed will feature a special celebration of Formula 1 and its rise to prominence. This celebration will feature numerous World Champions, as well as race cars from several different eras. One of the most prominent will be the 1938 Maserati 8CM, which belongs to the Prologue class.
