A classic piece of automotive history will soon be available for fans of the “Austin Powers” films. The Shaguar is heading to the auction block.
According to Mecum Auctions, the 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series Roadster will head to the block on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025. The site of the auction will be Kissimmee, Florida.
The Shaguar, which Mike Myers and the film’s leading ladies drove, features a 4.2L inline 6-cylinder engine. The roadster has a four-speed manual transmission.
It has the Union Jack paint scheme made famous by the Myers films, and it has a blue interior. Unfortunately for “Austin Powers” fans, the Roadster cannot make video calls to headquarters.
Other touches include custom branding. The Jaguar has a “Shaguar” license plate and a silver “Shaguar” badge on the boot lid.
As the Mecum listing points out, this is the true Hero car from the three “Austin Powers” films. The films did not have any double cars. This is also the Shaguar that appeared in the Madonna music video, “Beautiful Stranger.”
The vehicle has been part of a private collection in the decades since the last film in the series, “Austin Powers in Goldmember.” The owner occasionally loaned the vehicle to Jaguar Land Rover corporate for special events.
Josh Hancock, the consignor, explained that he came into possession of the Shaguar interestingly. A woman won the car in a contest, but she wanted a minivan.
“I said, ‘Ok, we’ll get you a minivan,'” Hancock explained. “So that was really the reason that I was able to acquire the car.”
The person who wins the auction in January will receive multiple letters of authentication. This includes one from Picture Car Coordinator Josh Hancock. Another is from Cinema Vehicle Services owner Ray Claridge, who prepared and maintained the Shaguar.
