Seinfeld reunion rumors have been swirling due to a recent hint dropped by Jerry Seinfeld himself. Now Julia Louis-Dreyfus is weighing in. The chain of events began during Jerry’s recent stage appearance at the Wang Theater in Boston on October 7th. Discussing the iconic show’s somewhat controversial ending, Jerry teased, Well, I have a little secret for you about the ending. But I can’t really tell it because it is a secret.”
“Here’s what I’ll tell you, OK, but you can’t tell anybody,” Jerry added. “Something is going to happen that has to do with that ending. Hasn’t happened yet. And just what you are thinking about, [we] have also been thinking about it. So you’ll see, we’ll see.”
Thanks to reruns and streaming, Seinfeld remains one of the most popular shows of the 90s. However, the series finale, which 76.3 million viewers tuned in for, left some fans disappointed. In that episode, Jerry, George (Jason Alexander), Elaine (Louis-Dreyfus), and Kramer (Michael Richards) finally pay for their cynical natures. They are arrested and go on trial because rather than help someone in distress, they stood and joked about it. The series ended with the main characters in prison.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus on the ‘Seinfeld’ Reuion Rumors
Jerry Seinfeld didn’t drop any more details in Boston, but that didn’t stop endless speculation about a reunion for the beloved show. As for Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the Veep star hasn’t seemed to receive any official word. “Yeah, I just saw last night,” she recently The Guardian. “And I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about.” This implies that whatever Jerry seems to be hinting at must be in the very earliest stages.
Louis-Dreyfus is arguably the most active of the Seinfeld cast. After her Emmy-winning turn as the lead in Veep, she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. She’s appeared as the villainous character most recently appeared in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Still, a reunion remains a possibility. During Season 7 of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, the Seinfeld cast reunited for a memorable storyline. In this show-within-a-show, David orchestrated a reunion and crafted a new series finale. As the plot unfolded, it was revealed that Jerry had unknowingly fathered Elaine’s daughter through sperm donation. Meanwhile, George achieved success with the iToilet iPhone app, a guide to nearby restrooms. However, he ultimately lost his wealth due to the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme.
The cast members have also worked together on other notable projects, including Seinfeld’s web series called Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. In this series, Seinfeld interviewed each of his former cast members in different settings. Jerry even had coffee with Jason Alexander while in character as George Costanza.
