‘Jeopardy!’ Fans ‘Annoyed’ Following Clueless Reaction to Classic Rock Act

Jeopardy! fans were left stunned when none of the three contestants could answer a clue about the iconic rock band, Led Zeppelin. During Wednesday’s episode, a category called “Discographies” showcased images of music artists alongside the titles of their albums. For the $400 clue, a photo of the renowned English rockers appeared, and host Ken Jennings correctly identified their 1973 album as Houses of the Holy. Surprisingly, the contestants were unable to provide the correct answer.

Jennings correctly predicted the future once the buzzer rang when time ran out. “You have annoyed Led Zeppelin fans everywhere,” he quipped.

‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Take to Social Media Over the Led Zeppelin Gaffe

Formed in 1968, Led Zeppelin consisted of the iconic lineup of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham, names known to music enthusiasts worldwide. The band’s repertoire included acclaimed tracks like “Immigrant Song” and “Stairway to Heaven,” widely regarded as some of the greatest rock songs ever recorded. As a result, devoted Jeopardy! viewers expressed their passionate opinions about the band’s perceived lack of recognition.

Alongside a clip of the Jeopardy! debacle, one Led Zeppelin fan wrote on X, “Sent to me by a concerned citizen yesterday. Join me in weeping for humanity.”

“3 thirty-something contestants on Jeopardy last night did not know who Led Zeppelin was,” another fan wrote on X. “I make sure my young nieces, nephew and all their friends are well educated in Classic Rock!!!”

“I find it almost impossible, or a complete societal failure, to know for a fact that three humans standing within 10 feet of each other don’t know Led Zeppelin,” a classic rock fan insisted. “What kind of horrible uncultured lives have these people lived?” one music lover asked.

However, one Jeopardy! watcher acknowledged the gaffe might just be a sign of the passage of time. “I just experienced another striking revelation about how old I must be getting,” they wrote. “My utter shock that none of the contestants on today’s Jeopardy episode could identify Led Zeppelin from one of their publicity photos.”

Of course, Led Zeppelin has achieved remarkable success, garnering numerous prestigious awards and accolades. Their 2014 album Celebration Day won a Grammy Award. They were also honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. These achievements solidify their status as one of the greatest musical acts ever.
