‘Jeopardy’ Champ Nick Cascone Has Acting Credits in ‘Titanic,’ ‘West Wing,’ & More

Jeopardy!‘s latest Tournament of Champions qualifying contestant, Nick Cascone, has an impressive acting resume. Originally from Queens, New York, Cascone, an orthopedic physician assistant, has secured a spot in the highly anticipated Tournament of Champions. His triumph in the inaugural Champions Wildcard competition has brought attention to his remarkable acting career, a topic that surprisingly remained unmentioned during his recent appearance on the show.

As mentioned on Cascone’s LinkedIn page, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting from Purchase College, State University of New York in 1986. Soon after, he began a thriving on-screen career.

Under the screen name Nicholas Cascone, the recent champion of Jeopardy! boasts early credits in iconic TV series including Matlock, Highway to Heaven, Moonlighting, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

During the 1990s, he maintained an active acting career, making notable appearances in television shows such as ER, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, LA Law, and The West Wing. He also made a mark in the film industry with credits including Eye For an Eye, Up Close and Personal, Nightwatch, and Murder In Mind.

However, his most iconic role emerged in James Cameron’s Titanic, portraying Bobby Buell, a member of Brock Lovett’s search team. His screen time is brief, but there are cutaways to his face as Rose speaks in key scenes. An eagle-eyed Jeopardy! fan spotted Nick Cascone in the 1997 film and took a screen grab.

Many viewers thought the topic should have been brought up on the show. “I can’t believe Nick has been on this many episodes of #Jeopardy and no one has asked him about his role in Titanic,” a fan wrote on Twitter.

However, Cascone himself pointed out his acting past was discussed in a 2021 appearance. “Talked about it in the only game I lost so far, back in 2021 with [guest host] Dr Oz,” Cascone replied.

Cascone’s acting career extended into the early 2000s when he took on supporting roles in notable TV series such as Philly, Charmed, The Division, Without A Trace, and Drake & Josh. He also made appearances in films like Dragonfly, Undisputed, and Welcome to the Neighborhood. His final acting credit was in The Jake Effect, a short-lived 2006 sitcom with Jason Bateman.

Following his departure from the acting, Cascone obtained his Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science. Subsequently, he embarked on a healthcare career and currently serves as a physician assistant in Los Angeles, California.
