‘Frasier’ Reboot Brings Back Bebe Neuwirth’s Lilith

In the latest episode, the Frasier reboot finally brought back Bebe Neuwirth’s Lilith to torment Kelsey Grammer’s Dr. Crane. In the latest episode, “Freddy’s Birthday” on Paramount+, Frasier, and Lilith reluctantly join forces to celebrate their son Freddy’s (played by Jack Cutmore-Scott) birthday.

Frasier and Lilith’s last on-screen collaboration was in the original Frasier Season 11, Episode 9, titled “Guns N’ Neuroses.” When they went their separate ways, they maintained a cordial relationship, if not better. Despite teasing each other, they were almost like friends who had a romantic history. Intriguingly, their current dynamic appears to be more contentious again.

However, returning to the enchanting and icy character of Lilith after such a long time brought immense joy to Neuwirth. “It’s always a pleasure and a great time visiting Lilith and Frasier,” Neuwirth recently told People. “So fun to be back in that wonderful character.”

In the Frasier reboot on Paramount+, the renowned psychiatrist relocates from Seattle to Boston, where he takes up a teaching position to be closer to his grown-up son, Freddy. Interestingly, this is not Lilith’s first time in Boston either. Frasier and the enigmatic doctor share a lengthy and intricate history that spans nearly three decades, originating in the city that is known for its timeless allure.

Frasier and Lilith Go Back to the 80s

The two initially crossed paths on an eventful date during the fourth season of NBC’s beloved sitcom Cheers in the episode titled “Second Time Around.” As their relationship progressed, the couple eventually exchanged vows. In an unforgettable turn of events, Lilith unexpectedly went into labor at Cheers, and Freddy, or Frederick, made his entrance into the world inside a taxi during the eighth season episode titled “The Stork Brings a Crane.”

The couple divorces sometime after Frasier moves from Boston to Seattle, creating the backdrop for numerous memorable scenes. They oscillate between their love and hatred for each other, resulting in an intriguing dynamic.

Lilith makes her first appearance on NBC’s Frasier in the season one episode titled “The Show Where Lilith Comes Back.” Neuwirth returned several more times on the show’s eleven-season run.

The most recent episode of the Frasier reboot seems to close the door on Lilith as the pair agree to divide family events to keep things civil. However, given the pair’s decades-long history, it seems likely she will make another appearance down the line.
