Why Kurt Russell Was Caught on Camera During Infamous O.J. Simpson Chase

Kurt Russell can put himself in some pretty unique places at times, and one of those happens to involve the O.J. Simpson chase. At least, that’s what we can surmise from what Oliver and Kate Hudson revealed in a conversation with Jimmy Kimmel.

The Hudson children stopped by for a visit on Jimmy Kimmel Live. When they did, the subject of Russell being around Simpson came up. “He’s always crossing paths, somehow, with, uh, killers,” Kate Hudson said of Kurt Russell. “Like, serial killers. Actually, he was on camera when O.J. Simpson drove into his house. He was in the driveway. You could see him on KTLA, like, ‘Huh?’ My dad. I was like, ‘What is he doing there?’”

Kurt Russell Watched O.J. Simpson Return Home Following Police Chase

In an infamous moment in American history, O.J. Simpson was a suspect in the double murder of Ronald Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson in 1994. He had climbed into the backseat of a white Ford Bronco, driven by his friend Al Cowlings.

Los Angeles Police Department officers located Simpson’s car, then followed the Ford Bronco from a distance on a California freeway. Ultimately, negotiators were able to get Simpson back to his home, where he later surrendered.

“It was the big chase,” Kate Hudson said. “And Kurt… O.J. was on the 405 [freeway] and Kurt all of (a) sudden just went, ‘Oh, he’s going home.’ Next thing you know, he gets in the car and he leaves and he goes to O.J.’s house. I don’t know why! Just to see what happened, you know? And we’re all like, ‘Where are you going?’ He’s like, ‘I’ll be right back.’ And then he goes with his friend.”

Kate went on to say that the rest of the family watched the Houston Rockets play the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals. But game coverage was interrupted on NBC by the network following the Simpson chase. That’s when the Hudson children saw Kurt Russell on television. He was watching everything happen there while standing behind caution tape at O.J. Simpson’s Brentwood house.

Did This Ted Bundy Story Really Happen?

But wait, there’s more! Oliver Hudson additionally said that Kurt Russell supposedly crossed paths with serial killer Ted Bundy, as well as Tex Watson, a follower of Charles Manson. Hudson claimed his step-father beat up Watson. As Kate listened to her brother go on, she couldn’t confirm nor deny these stories’ validity. Oliver, though, seemed pretty giddy when telling tales about Kurt Russell.

“This is a crazy story,” Oliver Hudson said. “Kurt was camping, he had his plate of food, went to get a beer or something, comes back and his plate of food is gone. Ted Bundy then gets caught and recounts how he survived after escaping and he said he found a guy camping in the woods with his friends, he leaves the thing and he go grabs and eats his food.”

At this time, Bundy had just escaped from the Pitkin County Courthouse. Kurt Russell was living in Colorado when this alleged incident took place.

Kurt Russell Put Together Quite a Career

Kate and Oliver Hudson are Goldie Hawn’s children from her marriage to musician Bill Hudson. Of course, Hawn and Kurt Russell have been together since 1983. They do not have any children from their partnership. The Hudson kids were on Kimmel’s show to promote their podcast, Sibling Revelry.

Russell has been involved with show business since he was a young boy. He got his first taste of acting on TV back in the 1960s. Kurt Russell starred in The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters when he was just 12 years old. But when he was 11, Russell snagged a role in the Elvis Presley movie It Happened at the World’s Fair.

After starring in numerous Disney movies, Russell moved along to make some cult classic movies. Escape from New York, Overboard (with Hawn), and Big Trouble in Little China all starred Kurt Russell in a lead role.
