Beverly D’Angelo found herself as part of a National Lampoon franchise, which has helped her net worth grow. D’Angelo is best known for playing Ellen Griswold in National Lampoon’s Vacation and its sequels, including Christmas Vacation. But the actress has shown quite a range, going from feature films to television work.
What is Beverly D’Angelo’s Net Worth?
For a career that has seen some 60 different roles, Beverly D’Angelo has been able to amass a net worth of $20 million. That’s according to Celebrity Net Worth. She’s a native of Columbus Ohio, where she was raised by her parents. D’Angelo also has three brothers as well.
Beverly D’Angelo went to high school in the area and then worked as an illustrator and singer. She ended up being a backup singer for a group that eventually became The Band.
Beverly D’Angelo Gets Small Role in ‘Annie Hall’
In the mid-1970s, she picked up her first TV work in a miniseries titled Captains and the Kings. But she got a career boost thanks to a small role in Woody Allen’s Annie Hall. Beverly D’Angelo’s work there began to open more doors of opportunity. She also appeared in Hair and the Clint Eastwood picture Every Which Way But Loose.
D’Angelo managed to turn heads with her portrayal of Patsy Cline in Coal Miner’s Daughter. She also would win a Country Music Association Award for her part in the soundtrack album. That happened in 1980.
In 1983, Beverly D’Angelo played Ellen for the first time opposite Chevy Chase. Her ability to act in comedies also led D’Angelo to those types of projects.
She almost said no, though, to the Vacation role. D’Angelo had to be convinced to check out the movie’s script before making a final decision. You see, she was convinced that she was not a good fit for the role. It’s a good thing she said yes because who else could play Ellen like she does? In hindsight, Beverly D’Angelo is very happy with her decision. Plus, she puts the Griswolds in high regard, too.
“I’m just so honored that the Griswolds are so embedded in our culture about what a family is because it’s a good family,” D’Angelo said in a People interview in 2022.
‘National Lampoon’ Star Showed Range With Different Roles
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Beverly D’Angelo played a wide range of different characters in movies and television. Movie work included roles in Trading Hearts, High Spirits, Maid to Order, and Cold Front. D’Angelo popped up on American History X, where her work led to a Satellite Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
In the 2000s, she started working in a recurring role as Rebecca Balthus on Law & Order: SVU. D’Angelo secured a role as Barbara Miller on Entourage. More movie work followed in the ensuing years, keeping her as busy as she wanted to be.
As for her family life, Beverly D’Angelo had twins while dating Al Pacino. They were born using in-vitro fertilization. She also has been connected with Don Lorenzo Salviati and production designer Anton Furst. Sadly, Furst committed suicide in 1981.
