‘The Partridge Family’s Danny Bonaduce Announces Retirement

Radio host and former child star Danny Bonaduce announced his retirement on Monday after 12 years of hosting morning radio. The Patridge Family alum announced the news on his X (formerly Twitter) account Monday morning.

According to the post, Bonaduce announced that he and his wife, Amy, will be retiring to Palm Springs. He currently hosts The Danny Bonaduce & Sarah Morning Show on 102.5 KZOK FM in Seattle. In June, he temporarily went off the air due to a medical condition that required brain surgery.

Bonaduce, in an interview with TMZ, revealed that he had consulted numerous doctors regarding an undisclosed ailment. However, it wasn’t until May that he was ultimately diagnosed with hydrocephalus.

Hydrocephalus is a neurological disorder resulting from an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid within the brain’s deep ventricles or cavities. This surplus fluid leads to the expansion of the ventricles, exerting detrimental pressure on the delicate tissues of the brain.

Danny Bonaduce’s Retirement Follows a Serious Brain Surgery

Bonaduce underwent surgery on June 5th to alleviate the pressure. “Some news to share,” he wrote on X. “I’m taking a temporary medical leave from my radio show. I’ll share more when I know more. I’m still working towards receiving a diagnosis. What I know is, I need time to focus on my health. I love my job and talking to you guys & I’ll be back on the air soon.”

In April 2022, Amy Bonaduce noticed changes in her husband Danny’s speech and observed his inability to walk or maintain balance. Medical professionals ruled out a stroke, but according to TMZ, Bonaduce believes these issues may be linked to the extensive strain he has endured from his involvement in professional wrestling and celebrity boxing.

Bonaduce is the son of Joseph Bonaduce, a seasoned TV writer and producer known for his work on acclaimed shows like The Dick Van Dyke Show and One Day at a Time, among others. In the 1970s, Bonaduce rose to fame as a child actor on the TV sitcom The Partridge Family. He played the role of Danny Partridge, the witty and redheaded middle son of the singing family band, led by Shirley Jones. Additionally, he portrayed the bass guitar player of the fictional pop group.

As an adult, Bonaduce has appeared in several TV series, including the VH1 reality show Breaking Bonaduce in 2005. He has also hosted radio shows in Los Angeles and Philadelphia before landing his Seattle radio show on KZOK-FM.
