‘Starsky & Hutch’: What’s Paul Michael Glaser Been Up to Since the Iconic Series Ended?

Paul Michael Glaser rose to fame as one half of the iconic duo Starsky & Hutch, but his career extends far beyond the popular crime series. Airing on ABC for four seasons (1975-1979), the action-packed show followed detectives David Starsky and Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchinson, portrayed by David Soul. Set in fictional Bay City, California, the series showcased their relentless pursuit of justice on the city streets.

Glaser’s crime-solving partner, Soul, passed away in early 2024. Glaser told People that Soul was “a brother, a friend, and a caring man” and added, “We shall never see his like again.”

Since the conclusion of Starsky & Hutch, Paul Michael Glaser has been keeping busy. While continuing to portray Dave Starsky on the show, he also made his directorial debut, showcasing his talent behind the camera. From 1977 to 1979, Glaser directed five episodes of the series, further expanding his creative horizons.

During his time on the show, he forged a valuable connection with Michael Mann. As a result, Mann extended an offer for him to direct several episodes of Miami Vice, ultimately leading to Glaser’s nomination for an Emmy award.

After his nomination, Glaser continued his directorial work. He was involved in various projects such as Judging Amy, Las Vegas, and Criminal Minds. He also helmed Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 80s action hit, The Running Man. Alongside directing, he also served as a producer on Shark Tank for 77 episodes from 2010 to 2014.

In addition to creating art on screen, Glaser also finds joy in drawing and painting. Glaser is also an author. His notable works include Chrystallia, And The Source Of Light, and The Edge of Whimsy. The books also showcase his original poetry and artwork.

In 2013, Glaser portrayed the role of Tevye in a touring production of Fiddler on the Roof in the U.K. This marked a significant moment for the actor, as he was initially introduced to the musical when he played the character of Perchik in the 1971 film adaptation.
