Although her marriage to Elvis Presley ended in divorce, Priscilla Presley said there was just no one better for her than The King.
According to People, Priscilla confirmed that she made a how to never marry again while Elvis was still alive. The couple was married from 1967 to 1973 and shared a daughter, Lisa Marie, who passed away unexpectedly earlier this year. “I just don’t think that he could handle that,” she told a crowd of fans at a Q&A event in Las Vegas’s South Point Casino last week.
Although Elvis died four years after their divorce was official, Priscilla Presley decided to never remarry. “To be honest with you, I never wanted to marry after him,” she said about Elvis. “I never had any desire. No one could ever match him.”
However, years after Elvis died from a heart attack at the age of 42, Priscilla had a long-term relationship with Marco Antonio Garcia. They were introduced by a mutual friend in 1984 and lived together for 22 years before splitting in 2006. They share a son, Navarone Garibaldi, who was born in March 1987.
Along with talking about the divorce from Elvia, Priscilla Presley also said that she and Elvis decided to not have more children after Lisa Marie. She said it was due to his career. “Elvis felt he had a very busy schedule,” Priscilla explained. “And he did have a bit of guilt that he wasn’t around that much when Lisa was younger. With his scheduling and his touring, he just felt he wasn’t around enough to give a lot of attention to having another child.”
Priscilla Presley Recalled First Hearing About Elvis’ Death
During a separate interview with Piers Morgan last week, Priscilla Presley spoke about first hearing about Elvis’ death.
“I can still hear Joe Esposito’s words, ‘Cilla, Elvis is dead’,” Priscilla explained. “And that was like, I just couldn’t imagine him ever, especially at his age and all, still so young and wanting to do so much.”
Priscilla Presley also said that her late ex-husband had so many plans. “Not having him, not talking to him, not having him be the father of our child. My big fear was Lisa, and how do I tell her? She was only 9 at the time.”
Priscilla then spoke about what originally drew her to the musician in 1959. They were at a party in West Germany. She was only 14 and he was 24. “He would walk into the room and it was like, ‘Whoa,’ she gushed. “I mean, he didn’t realize what he had as far as his appearance or what he felt or his charisma, but there were a few times when he came around and he said, ‘Damn, I’m good looking,’ kiddingly.”
