Michelle Trachtenberg is perhaps best known for her Gossip Girl role as Georgina Sparks, but since the show wrapped in 2012, what is she up to now?
Trachtenberg started her acting career with a 1991 appearance on Law & Order. But it was her standout performance as Harriet M. Welsch in the 1996 film Harriet the Spy alongside Rosie O’Donnell that put her on the Hollywood map. She followed this up by playing Penny in 1999’s Inspector Gadget.
Before her role as Serena Vanderwoodsen’s scheming frenemy in Gossip Girl, Michelle Trachtenberg starred as Dawn Summers, Buffy’s younger sister, in Buffy the Vampire Slayer from 2000-2003. She also starred in 2009’s 17 Again alongside Matthew Perry and Zac Efron.
After the final episode of Gossip Girl aired in 2012, many cast members immediately embarked on major projects. Michelle Trachtenberg, now a veteran actress, guest starred on an episode of Criminal Minds and portrayed Marina Oswald in Killing Kennedy while also making a guest appearance on NCIS: Los Angeles.
In 2014, the actress embraced the character of Alice in The Scribbler, a gripping story centered around a young woman confronting her destructive multiple personalities. Additionally, Trachtenberg showcased her talent as Hillary in Save The Date during the same year.
In 2015, Michelle Trachtenberg had another successful year. She made a guest appearance on the supernatural drama series Sleepy Hollow, followed by her role as Anna in the TV series Guidance. The show revolves around uncovering the truth behind scandalous photos of the most popular girl in school circulating on social media. Additionally, Michelle lent her voice to the character Blood Moon in SuperMansion and starred in the TV movie The Christmas Gift. She followed this up with 2016’s Sister Cities.
Michelle Trachtenberg Now Seems More Focused on Voice Acting
Michelle Trachtenberg took a bit of a live-action hiatus from 2017 to 2022, focusing on voice acting work. However, she returned to her iconic Gossip Girl role in 2022.
Michelle Trachtenberg orginally played Georgina Sparks on CW’s Gossip Girl from 2008-2012. Derived from Cecily von Ziegesar’s book series, which slyly observed New York’s elite social circles, Georgina Sparks cunningly reigned as the formidable villain of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Her wicked charm even earned her a nomination for Choice TV Villain at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards.
Now that Michelle Trachtenberg is back in the spotlight with her Gossip Girl turn, fans are sure to keep an eye out for her.
