Fitness Enthusiast Mark Wahlberg Reveals Surprising Person ‘More Disciplined’ Than Himself

Mark Wahlberg may wake up at 3:30 am five days a week to devote time to his physical and spiritual wellness, but he’s only the second most dedicated person in the household.

The Oscar-nominated actor told E! News that his daughter Gracie puts his own dedication to shame. The 13-year-old equestrian jumper is hoping to compete in the Olympics one day, and she’s putting every ounce of her spare time into that goal.

“My daughter — believe it or not — is more disciplined than me,” he said in an article published on Nov. 25. “I didn’t adopt that kind of discipline until I was in my 30s, and I had to do it because of work. And now she does it on her own because she wants to be an Olympian.”

During a 2022 interview with Jimmy Fallon, Wahlberg further explained her morning routine by saying she’s up before him every day “shoving poop.”

“She’s got my work ethic,” he noted.

Mark Wahlberg Practices ‘Spiritual Fitness’

Grace is the youngest of four children Wahlberg shares with his wife, Rhea Durham. The couple also has two sons, Michael, 17, and Brendan, 15, and another daughter, Ella, 20.

While Wahlberg shared that his other kids are also focused on hobbies or careers, Grace really fell into her passions at a young age. By 12, she was “already traveling the world.” And though he’ll never detour her dreams, he’s terrified that she’ll get hurt while training or showing.

“I always thought the Patriots going to the Super Bowl was the most nerve-racking experience I’ve ever had. It’s nothing like watching my daughter on a horse,” he admitted to E! News.

Mark Wahlberg’s early mornings look quite a bit different than Grace’s. Instead of cleaning barns and riding laps, the devout Catholic begins his days with 30 minutes of prayer. Then, he moves into a rigorous workout routine. He calls his practice “spiritual fitness.”

“Everything revolves around my faith, right? So I just get up, express my gratitude, and then, you know — a constant reminder of all the things that I need to do to continue to grow and evolve and do my part,” he told Today in Oct. “I’m very fortunate, very blessed, and those gifts have been given to me to utilize in ways that will help and better others.”

As for the other Wahlberg boys, Michael is currently into MMA, jiu-jitsu, and muay tai, and Brendan is into acting. Brendan claims he will be a bigger star than his old man, and Mark Wahlberg has been trying to “encourage” him to get started on that goal now. But Brendan has fallen into the same trap that many teens have.

“He’s much more interested in playing video games,” Wahlberg shared.
