Even after years in the spotlight, Loni Anderson was astonished by a celebrity encounter arranged by Burt Reynolds. The actress, known for her role in WKRP in Cincinnati, is making a comeback with a nostalgic new film set in the 1980s. She stars in Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas alongside Morgan Fairchild, Linda Gray, and Nicollette Sheridan. The story follows these ladies as they reunite to film a final Christmas episode of a long-running soap opera. As the title implies, hijinks ensue.

While promoting the new project, Anderson sprinkled in delightful anecdotes from her past to add some extra sparkle to her new Christmas film. Anderson decided to share her experience of meeting the legendary Fred Astaire for the very first time. Her then-husband, Burt Reynolds, was well aware of her profound admiration for the song and dance legend.

“As a surprise, Burt invited Fred to dinner,” Anderson recently told Us Weekly. The Hollywood icon did not disappoint. “As he came down the stairs, he did a whole tap number.”

However, Astaire wasn’t her sole celebrity infatuation. She admitted her admiration for Cary Grant as well. “The most famous person in my phone book was Cary Grant,” Anderson recalled. “When I met him, I was a blithering idiot. He became a friend, but I never got over my crush.”

During the interview, Anderson shared more intriguing details about her life, diving deeper into her marriage with Reynolds from 1988 to 1994. She specifically mentioned another thoughtful gift given by the Smokey and the Bandit star.

“My first car was a turquoise Chevy Impala convertible with white leather interior and moon hubcaps,” she explained. ” I talked about it so much that when I was married to Burt [Reynolds], he had a lovely painting done of my car and I still have it hanging up.”

Since 2008, she has been happily married to musician Bob Flick. He’s one of the founding members of the band The Brothers Four. While he prefers to stay out of the spotlight, the couple was recently spotted together at a red-carpet event, radiating joy. Anderson also shared that they have a deep affection for Italy and often choose it as their vacation destination, drawn by the allure of its stunning water and picturesque scenery.
