Kel Mitchell Attends ‘Good Burger 2’ Premiere in First Public Appearance Since Hospitalization

Kel Mitchell is back in action after his “genuinely frightening” health scare earlier this month, appearing to be in good spirits at the Good Burger 2 premiere in New York on Monday night.

The 90s Nick star attended the premiere alongside his wife, Asia Lee-Mitchell, and their children, as well as his Good Burger 2 costar, Kenan Thompson.

“I’m doing way better, doing much better,” Kel Mitchell told E! News. “You know the prayers, and all the love, that’s been given out, yeah we’re happy for that. Holding my family.”

Kenan Thompson spoke out as well, opening up about the nerve-wracking experience of learning his friend was hospitalized. “It’s never good, it’s never anything you look forward to hearing about your friend, especially through the media,” the All That star said. “You want to hear about your friends from your friends, or like the people that you actually know.”

“But you know I just reached out immediately and as long as I was able to talk to him, the fam and everybody was there, and I know he’s surrounded and protected that’s kind of all that really mattered.”

“But yeah it’s terrifying,” Thompson continued. “Because you just going through your day and it’s the last thing on your mind, you know what I mean? Like he’s one of the healthiest people I know basically, so yeah it was definitely shocking.”

Kel Mitchell Reveals Incident Behind Health Scare

Kel Mitchell was hospitalized on November 7. Though he initially kept the incident behind his hospitalization quiet, he took to Instagram a few days later to explain what happened.

“I was out shopping when suddenly the whole room started spinning,” he said. “So, I was like, ‘I must be dehydrated so I need to go get some water, some food.’ When I did that, the whole right side of my arm and my leg was numb, followed by me not being able to swallow. And that’s when I panicked.”

After checking himself in at the hospital, he learned the source of his discomfort. “It was actually a bulging disc that I had from a prior injury,” the All That star explained. “[It] was pressing up against a nerve, mimicking all those symptoms that I was going through.”

“I’m thanking God that I am good. Thank y’all for all the prayers and the comments. Even the crazy ones,” he added jokingly. “I saw the, ‘Give him some orange soda in his IV.’”

Good Burger 2 starring Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson premieres on Paramount+ on November 22.
