Julia Roberts Reveals the 90s Sitcom She Always ‘Cuddled Up’ With Her Kids to Watch

Julia Roberts and her kids are catching up on a popular 1990s sitcom, proving that even America’s sweetheart can’t resist a nostalgic laugh. In her gripping new thriller, Leave the World Behind, there is a touching reference to the TV show Friends. The character of Robert’s daughter, Rose, portrayed by Farrah Mackenzie, finds solace in the fictional realm of the beloved sitcom.

In a recent interview with her costar Mahershala Ali, Roberts, who is a mother to three children with her husband Danny Moder, discussed their new film and revealed her own surprising TV show that brings her comfort.

“I discovered a series with my kids, The Wonder Years, which I had never seen before,” Roberts recently told People. “And boy, did we always look forward to cuddling up with that.”

Roberts then endorsed the 90s sitcom to Ali. “You’ll have to check that out when your girl’s a little bit bigger,” she suggested. However, the True Detective star had a typical dad answer for his comfort show. “You made me think of Alone,” the actor noted of the show on History.

“I have a little inner isolationist in me. I just love seeing how intelligent some of these people are, the things that they’re able to create and build on their own. The skill set and the fact they’re doing it by themselves. I also like a little House Hunters,” Ali added. “Nothing too dramatic before you’re settling down. People finding their dream, cool, I’m happy for you — and [now] I’m going to go to sleep and dream.”

Julia Roberts Has Hands-on Experience Working on an Iconic 90s Sitcom

Of course, Julia Roberts herself appeared on the essential classic 90s sitcom: Friends. Season two’s “The One After the Superbowl: Part 2” once again finds Matthew Perry’s Chandler in a compromising position. This moment features guest star Julia Roberts (then Perry’s real-life girlfriend).

In the episode, Roberts played the role of Susie Moss, a former classmate seeking revenge on Chandler for a humiliating incident from their elementary school days. As payback, she left him stranded in a bathroom, nearly naked.

Julia Roberts recently spoke about the untimely death of Matthew Perry last October. “The sudden passing of anybody so young is heartbreaking,” Roberts said of Perry on Entertainment Tonight. “I think that, you know, it just helps all of us just appreciate what we have and to keep going in a positive way as best we can.”
