No bad blood here! Earlier this week, John Stamos revealed how Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen fixed the relationship with him and the rest of the Full House cast.
According to the New York Post, Stamos talked about the famous twins during his appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark. He said that the entire Full House cast reunited following the death of Bob Saget in January 2022. “I love them dearly and they’ve done so well,” he explained. “I’m so proud of them. When Bob passed away, they came – and they were so kind.”
The rift between the twins and the rest of the Full House cast occurred when the ladies decided to not return for the show’s spinoff Fuller House. During its run, the show would make jokes about Mary-Kate and Ashley, who shared the famous role of Michelle Tanner in the original series. They have retired from acting and now work in the fashion industry.
Speaking about his relationship with the Olsen sisters now, John Stamos said, “You know, they were here and we were there. And we just weren’t so close over the years because of distance.”
The twins extended an olive branch to their Full House co-stars by saying they loved their childhood and their time on the show. They also thanked their co-stars for the “beautiful” eight years they shared on the show. “It was really something that the rest of us needed to hear,” Stamos continued. “It was really nice.”
The actor also admitted that he tried to get the twins fired from Full House when they were toddlers. “The truth is it was like for an hour. They were crying through every scene… I said, ‘Get me some other kids.’ And they brought these two kids that were semi-attractive at best. And I was like, ‘Get the Olsens back, quick!”
John Stamos Previously Said He Was ‘Angry’ With the Olsen Twins For Not Doing the ‘Full House’ Spinoff
Earlier this year, John Stamos admitted that he was angry with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for not reprising their Full House role for the spinoff.
“[Bob Saget] was very instrumental in keeping us all together,” Stamos explained during his appearance on the And That’s What You REALLY Missed podcast. “The twins moved to New York… And I gotta tell you, one of the only good things to come out of Bob’s, well… Mary-Kate and Ashley, we didn’t really see them much.”
John Stamos said that while he and the twins stayed in touch a little bit, they were closer with Saget. “And they were so great… You hear rumors, ‘Oh, they hated their childhood or they hated being on the show or whatever.’”
Stamos noted that when he did Fuller House with the majority of the original cast, he was angry for a little bit that Mary-Kate and Ashley had no interest in the show. “I was angry for a minute. And that got out.”
