John Stamos alleges in his memoir that in the ’80s, he discovered his girlfriend cheating on him with Tony Danza. Now the girlfriend in question, model and actress Teri Copley, is pushing back at the allegations. According to her, Stamos was already in the rearview by the time she and the Who’s the Boss star hooked up.
“I wondered, ‘What was John doing there?’ because we had broken up,” Copley recently told PEOPLE. “He just looked at me and shook his head, and walked away.” In his memoir, Stamos claims Copley was giving him the cold shoulder. Suspicious, he went to her home to investigate. Once there, he noticed an unfamiliar Porsche parked in the driveway.
In his memoir, If You Would Have Told Me (which hits shelves today), Stamos recounts how he looked inside the guest house to find Danza and Copley naked in bed together. He goes on to call the Tony Danza discovery his “worst nightmare”. Rather than confront the pair, the Full House star decided to split.

However, as he was leaving, he spotted a poster in the Porsche. He couldn’t help but take a gander and unrolled it. Of course, it was a sultry poster of Copley. Stamos was bemused by the autograph on the poster. “‘My Dear Tony, I’ll love you forever. XO, Teri,’” he writes. “Tony? Who the hell is Tony?”
It was during his drive home, while listening to Elton John, that Stamos had a sudden realization about the identity of his adversary. “Hold me closer, Tony Danza,” he quips in the book. So far, Tony Danza has yet to weigh in on the allegations.
In a later chapter of his memoir, Stamos recognizes the influence of Danza’s popular 80s sitcom, Who’s the Boss?, on the early success of Full House. Premiering shortly after Boss, Full House garnered a devoted following in its first season. “Well, what can I say? Thanks, Tony Danza,” Stamos writes in his book.
Meanwhile, Copley has stayed mostly out of the spotlight before Stamos’ cheating claims dragged her back in. After guest appearing in a few TV shows like Quantum Leap, The Love Boat, and Blossom, she moved away from Hollywood to raise her two daughters. In the 90s, she found religion and became a born-again Christian. In 2003, she published a book exploring her faith, titled Conversations Between a Girl and Her God. However, in 2018, Copley made an appearance on the Dr. Phil television series in order to seek assistance for her adult daughter Ashley. Copley accused Ashley’s boyfriend, Hector, of being physically abusive.
