With John Stamos’ memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, preparing to hit the shelves, the Full House star released several excerpts to give fans a taste of what they would find among its pages. And while each one provides an interesting, sometimes heartbreaking piece of Stamos’ story, one tale, in particular, set the internet ablaze: the time John Stamos allegedly found his girlfriend in bed with Who’s the Boss star Tony Danza.
Learning of the bizarre love triangle, sitcom fans took to Twitter to give their thoughts on the situation. Though some expressed empathy for Stamos, many took a more lighthearted approach.
“I was not expecting Stamos vs. Danza as the next great Netflix documentary we need,” one user wrote. “Imagine choosing Tony Micelli over Uncle Jesse,” another said. “In her defense, I used to get them confused too,” joked a third.
Then there’s the avalanche of “Who’s the Boss?” jokes. It is right there, after all.
“Finally we find out who the boss was,” one user said. “Wow, he really is the Boss,” another wrote. “And that’s how Uncle Jesse found out who the boss was,” added a third.

A Pop Classic Helped John Stamos Discover Tony Danza’s Identity
In the memoir excerpt obtained by Entertainment Weekly, Stamos recalls his short-lived romance with actress and model Teri Copley and how it ended in a more shocking fashion than he could have ever imagined. After not hearing from Copley for an unusual stretch of time, Stamos set out for her home to check on her. Upon his arrival, he discovered a strange car in the driveway with an even stranger object inside.
“I shuffle to the car with my stomach sinking and take a quick look inside,” Stamos wrote in the excerpt. “There’s a hairbrush, keys, boxing gloves, and a half-unrolled poster of my girlfriend, naked, barely covered by a white sheet. Half of her butt is showing. I’ve never seen this poster before.”
Peeking in through the window, he saw four feet protruding from the covers. Heartbroken and confused, he headed back to his car, but not before snatching the poster of Teri Copley. “I stare at the two-dimensional, half-dressed woman that I thought I knew. She’s signed the poster, with little hearts, ‘My Dear Tony, I’ll love you forever. XO, Teri,’” he recalled. “Tony? Who the hell is Tony?”
Driving home, an Elton John song came on the radio, helping him piece together the identity of his adversary. “Hold me closer, Tony Danza,” Stamos quipped.
Teri Copley has since denied the allegation, claiming she and John Stamos were broken up when she brought Tony Danza home. Danza has yet to comment on the situation.
