‘Dynasty’ Star Joan Collins Opens Up About 32-Year Age Gap With Fifth Husband

‘Dynasty’ Star Joan Collins Opens Up About 32-Year Age Gap With Fifth Husband

More than 20 years after she said “I do” to her fifth husband, Percy Gibson, Dynasty star Joan Collins reflects on the 32-year age gap they have.

While speaking to Fox News Digital recently, Collins reflects on her relationship with Gibson. “First of all, we were great pals before we got married,” she explained. The actress continued to say they worked together on a play and just enjoyed each other’s company. “We hung out together. And we saw each other the following year. We wrote love letters – it was a gradual thing. And we realized that we were very much on the same wavelength.”

When describing her husband, Joan Collins stated that he is a really nice, kind, and grounded person. “Many of the people that I’ve been with – and I’m not going to specify which ones – have been either neurotic, slightly unbalanced, or gotten into different things.”

Although critics have been quick to point out the 32-year age difference between her and Gibson, Collins stated that age is just a number. She also said that it’s never too late to find love at any life stage. “That’s how we both feel,” she noted. “And we were friends first, above anything else.”

In regards to how she and Gibson have kept their marriage going, Collins added that it’s about both of them having the same drive. “I was born with a tremendous enthusiasm for life. My mother used to say that I never kept still when I was a child. I used to do five different things at once. I would be doing a crossword puzzle, making a doll’s house, reading, painting, trying to become a detective – all at once!”

Joan Collins Stated in Her New Memoir Her Husband Isn’t Concerned About the Age Difference

In her new memoir, Behind the Shoulder Pads: Tales I Tell My Friends, Joan Collins wrote about the age difference between her and her fifth husband, Percy Gibson. She stated that Gibson wasn’t concerned about the age difference because she has a great “vitality and enthusiasm” for life and all it has to offer.

“Percy often admits that I can wear him out!” she declared in the book.

Along with addressing the age difference between her and Gibson, Collins reflected on her broken engagement with Warren Beatty.

“We were both too young, too selfish, too ambitious,” she admitted. “It just wasn’t right. I mean, I’ve had a lot of relationships. I had a lot of marriages. They don’t last. Luckily, you get older, and I met the man who’s the right person for me for the rest of my life.”
