Jennifer Aniston Reportedly ‘Struggling’ Following Death of ‘Friends’ Co-Star Matthew Perry

Days after Matthew Perry was officially laid to rest, there have been reports that the late actor’s Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston is struggling over his sudden passing.

An insider revealed to PageSix that among the Friends stars, Aniston and Cox are reeling the most over Perry’s death. “Jen is probably the one who is struggling most acutely,” the source explained. It’s a second massive loss in less than a year, with the one-year anniversary of her dad’s death just around the corner.”

Aniston’s father, Days of Our Lives star John Aniston, passed away in November 2022. The source told the media outlet that Aniston hasn’t fully regained her “footing” from his death. “And now [Matthew Perry’s death] has just completely knocked her off her feet.”

The source further explained that Aniston is trying to regroup and recover, but Perry’s death has been a devastating blow. Perry unexpectedly passed away on October 28th from an apparent drowning in his LA home. He was 54 years old at the time of his death.

Aniston along with Friends castmates Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc all attended Matthew Perry’s funeral last Friday (November 3rd). He was laid to rest at Forest Lawn cemetery in LA. The group also released a statement about Perry’s death days prior.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. (And) We are a family,” their statement reads. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.

Matthew Perry Once Said He Had a ‘Crush’ On Jennifer Aniston During Their ‘Friends’ Days

Entertainment Tonight reported that during a 2022 interview on The Jess Cagle Show, Matthew Perry admitted he had a crush on Jennifer Aniston while they appeared together on Friends.

“At first it was like, she would walk in, I’d be like, ‘Hey, good to see you,’” Perry explained. “And I’d go to my dressing room and just go, ‘Oh, I’ll never, I’ll never be able to be with her.’ But how can you not have a crush on Jennifer Aniston, you know?”

Eventually, Matthew Perry ended up giving up. “I did at one point just go, ‘All right, that’s enough.’”

Perry’s admitting his crush on Aniston came just a little over a year after David Schwimmer and Aniston admitted they had a crush on each other. “The first season, we — I had a major crush on Jen,” Schwimmer said during the Friends reunion. Aniston immediately declared, “It was reciprocated.”

Schwimmer also said that at some point he and Aniston were both “crushing hard” on each other. “But it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship. So we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”
