Home Alone icon Macaulay Culkin, perhaps the biggest child star of the 90s, is being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Walk of Fame shared the news on Twitter.
Culkin became famous for his iconic role as Kevin McCallister in the beloved film Home Alone and its sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. According to a press release, Culkin will receive his well-deserved star on the Walk of Fame on December 1st. He will also be accompanied by a familiar face at the ceremony.
A ‘Home Alone’ Co-Star Will Join Macaulay Culkin at His Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony
In a written statement, Ana Martinez, the producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, unveiled the identity of the surprise guest. “Macaulay Culkin has been a staple in pop culture for decades,” Martinez wrote. “He has an extensive trajectory of work but his movie, ‘Home Alone’ is one of the most beloved holiday movies known the world over. How fitting that Catherine O’Hara who played Macaulay’s mother in the film is reuniting with her movie son and will be speaking at the ceremony!”
The Motion Pictures category will proudly feature his star, situated at 6353 Hollywood Blvd. Hosting the event as emcee will be Steve Nissen, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Notably, actress Natasha Lyonne will also grace the stage as a speaker, paying tribute to Culkin. The event will also be live-streamed on the Walk of Fame’s website.
Macaulay Culkin Began Acting at Age Four
Macaulay Culkin embarked on his stage career at the tender age of four. He marked the beginning of several minor film roles with his appearance in Rocket Gibraltar as Burt Lancaster’s grandson. However, it was his role as the curious nephew of John Candy in the John Hughes film Uncle Buck that truly captured the spotlight for Culkin, propelling him into the limelight.
Though Culkin first gained fame for his role in the beloved Home Alone films, he has since appeared in numerous other noteworthy projects. Recently, Culkin showcased his talent in FX’s American Horror Story: Double Feature. He also appeared in HBO’s critically acclaimed comedy The Righteous Gemstones. His impressive filmography also includes titles such as Jacob’s Ladder, My Girl, The Good Son, Richie Rich, and Party Monster.
Since 2018, Culkin has made regular appearances on the YouTube channel Red Letter Media. He has been featured in multiple episodes of their web series, including Best of the Worst. Additionally, he has appeared on Angry Video Game Nerd as himself, a character, or a parody of himself.
