Friends guest star Brooke Shields is remembering Matthew Perry for his kindness and effortless ability to make the world smile.

Shields took to Instagram one day after Perry was found dead at his home in LA. She expressed that she initially needed time to process the shock, but she now hopes she can support the actor’s friends and family as they continue to grieve.

“Really struggling to find the words,” she began. “You were so loved, Matthew. I loved you dearly. Thank you for the belly laughs. You brought joy to so many. We already miss you… sending all of my love to your family & friends.”

Along with the caption, Brooke Shields included a screen grab from her appearance alongside Matthew Perry in the 1996 episode, The One After the Super Bowl: Part 1

In the episode, Shields plays Ericka Ford, an unhinged soap opera fan who has an obsessive crush on Joey. Erika stalks Joey because she believes he is actually Dr. Drake Ramoray. Joey begins a relationship with her, despite the stalking, because he thinks she’s beautiful and has to convince her he’s Drake’s evil twin to break up with her.
