’Friends’ Star Courteney Cox Posts Touching Tribute to Matthew Perry, Fans React

Just after Courteney Cox broke her silence about Friends co-star Matthew Perry’s passing on Instagram, fans quickly took to the social media post to share their support.

As previously reported, the incredibly touching post featured Cox and Perry’s Friends characters Chandler and Monica nearly caught in bed together by David Schwimmer’s Ross. The video featured what the audience saw and an adorably hilarious behind-the-scene blooper. “I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty,” Cox wrote. “And I miss you every day.”

Courteney Cox then stated that when someone works as closely as she did with Matthew Perry, there are a thousand memories she wishes she could share. So, she offered up one of her all-time favorites, which was about the blooper. “To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one night flinging London,” she explained. “But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story. In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say.”

Cox then stated that her Friends co-star did things like that often. “He was funny and he was kind,” she added with a white heart and dove emoji.

Not long after she hit the post button, Cox received some sweet comments from fans. “The way he looks at you towards the end,” one fan wrote with an emotional emoji. “Still cannot believe it’s real. The one where we all lost a friend.”

Another fan then declared, “The fact that he refused to do a scene where he would cheat on you, you know he truly believed in mondler.”

Matthew Perry Described Courteney Cox As Being ‘Cripplingly Beautiful’ in His 2022 Memoir

According to the New York Post, Matthew Perry opened up in his 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing about meeting Courteney Cox for the first time.

“Courteney Cox was wearing a yellow dress and was cripplingly beautiful,” Perry wrote in the book. He did mention that Cox once rejected him before the duo starred on Friends while promoting his book. “Fortunately, even though I was still attracted to her and thought she was great, that first day we were able to sail right past the past and focus on the fact that we had both gotten the best job Hollywood had to offer. Everyone else was brand-new to me.”

The media outlet reported while their characters got married on the show, Cox and Perry never had an off-screen romance.

In 2015, Matthew Perry shared that he and the rest of the Friends cast still go together every so often. “We try to get together when we can,” he told Buzzfeed. “Courteney is a great host, and she has a nice place in Malibu, and we try to go out there as often as possible.”

However, Perry admitted that the six of the Friends castmates had been in a room together for several years.
