‘Friends’ Cast Release Statement on Passing of Matthew Perry, Fans React

Just after the Friends cast released a statement on the passing of Matthew Perry, fans took to social media to quickly react.

As previously reported, the Friends castmates, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer released a statement to People revealing they are all devastated about the loss of Matthew Perry. 

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew.,” the statement reads. They then explained that they are more than just castmates, they are family. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

The Friends co-stars shared they will each say more about Matthew Perry when they are able to do so. “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

Friends fans quickly took to X to share their love and support for the cast during this difficult time. One fan posted they are mourning with the cast. “Matthew had a great impact on our lives and so did the rest of the cast of Friends. Loved his work in ’17 Again’ as well. What a phenomenal actor. Rest in Power, Matthew.”

Another fan called for the media to give the cast privacy as they mourn Matthew Perry. “The press has to learn when to back off and let friends and family mourn. There will be a time soon, when mourning will turn into a celebration of Matthew’s life and they will then be ok with speaking publicly.”

Matthew Perry reportedly passed away on Saturday (October 28th) in an apparent drowning at his Los Angeles-area home. He was 54 years old at the time of his death.

Los Angeles Officials Provide New Details About Matthew Perry’s Death 

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times reports that officials have released more details about the unfortunate scene inside Matthew Perry’s home. 

The media outlet reports that authorities received a phone call reporting that Perry was in his hot tub and not breathing. The Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched and arrived on the scene at approximately 4:07 p.m. local time. The Los Angeles Police Department arrived a few minutes later at 4:10 p.m. 

According to the authorities, the Friends star was found underwater. “An adult male patient was deceased prior to first response arrival,” the Los Angeles Fire Department revealed. “The patient was found by a bystander who had re-positioned the victim where the head was out of the water.”

The Los Angeles Fire Department further revealed that firefighters pulled Perry out of the jacuzzi and did a quick medical assessment to find he was deceased.
